Hi Everyone,

We had another opportunity to sit outside this evening. The staff knows us well; if it’s nice outside Corey is up, dressed and waiting to go out the second I arrive. This evening a few of my girlfriends came to visit. One of them hadn’t seen Corey in two months. They couldn’t believe the change in her! What a gift it is to see Corey’s progress through another person’s eye. Seeing Corey everyday, I sometimes lose that fresh perspective.

Just a quick note on 3 fundraisers coming up;
Concert for Corey, May 7th, 4-8pm at the Penn Township Park. Tickets are available at Candy for All Occasions. This event is being organized by Corey’s friends at Avon Grove High School. (It’s a Battle of the Bands event). The kids are hosting and performing! $15 for students, $20 for adults. Live music, food and prizes including basket raffles and a 50/50! Candy for All Occasions, 2049 Newark Road, New London, PA #610.869.3839 or Maria Anzaldo #484.614.1937

A Night at the Barnstormers, May 13th, 7pm. It’s fireworks night too! A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Corey. In addition, they are allowing us to sell Corey bracelets and place our Change for Corey buckets in the concession stand. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time and are available at the Candy store (address/number noted above). The stadiums address is 650 North Prince Street, Lancaster, PA

Cook for Corey, May 14th hosted by Corey’s culinary program at Chester County Technical High School College. 280 Pennock Bridge Road, West Grove, PA
There will be 3 seatings, 8, 9 and 10 am. Tickets sold at the door, first come first served! Pancake breakfast with sausage and beverages, bake sale including a raffle to win an IPad (donated by the school for this event!)

As you all know, Corey wanted to go to Johnson & Wales for their culinary program. In honor of that education and paying tribute to one of her favorite cooking shows, Top Chef, her fellow students will be participating in a QUICK FIRE CHALLENGE. Chef Young and Chef D (Corey’s professors and mentors) will give selected students a breakfast challenge. The kids will create the assigned challenge and then the chef’s will judge their performance, plating, technique and taste of the final dish! These challenges will take place during each seating; 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30.

We had one more idea to honor Corey’s education in the culinary field. Every chef needs recipes. Corey began collecting cookbooks as well as writing down her original recipes, including some of my mom’s…Dedema’s creations! We will be posting a recipe card for anyone interested in sharing their favorite recipe. There will be cards available at the event as well. We will collect the formatted cards to create a community cookbook. You can purchase your pre-ordered cookbook at the event. We will collate the recipes, publish the cookbook and mail the finished copy. For those of you who are out of town but would like to share in Corey’s Cookbook; we will post the recipe card and you can send your recipe and order to Candy for All Occasions. The cookbook will be $25 including shipping.

Although I am still fighting for Corey’s continued stay at Bryn Mawr, we must prepare our home for her return. We have been blessed by so many volunteers donating their time, talents and craftsmanship to make our home safe for Corey. Thank you to Oxford Heating and Plumbing, Project RAKE, electricians, carpenters and our friends. We have ramps, new flooring, new paint and a new bathroom that is handicap accessible.

Continued fundraising events will be funding Corey’s medical bills, purchase of ongoing medical supplies, and purchase of the PT/OT/Speech equipment needed to help her continue her rehabilitation at home. We will also have to purchase the services of trained professionals to assist us if we don’t get the hours of coverage we need for clinical and therapy support. Future events will also be posted on www.careforcorey.org

Thank you doesn’t seem to be an adequate response for all your continued help, love and support. Our community is completely amazing…locally, across the country and abroad!
Thank you, Thank you!
All our love, The Beattie’s xoxo
