Hi Everyone,

Corey had a quiet, tired day. She had OT this morning and PT this afternoon. When I returned home tonight, Tammy reported that Corey was very tired today. I’m happy to report that she didn’t have a headache and it didn’t appear that she was uncomfortable. I guess it was just one of those days.

Tonight it was just Corey and I for girl’s night. Corey was in her wheelchair and I sat on the side of her bed. I asked Corey to tell me what she’d like to do. She wrote, “This”. She was content to sit and chat…so we did. What a fun night. We chatted about friends, family, school and therapy. We were entertained by Jade (JohnPaul’s cat) and Amelia (Corey’s cat) as well as watching poor Roxie taking the abuse of the two cats.

We spent some time in the kitchen. Corey helped me prepare my dinner. I took some spices out of the cabinet to see if they would inspire Corey and enhance my entrée. She smelled Rosemary, Ginger and Cinnamon. I asked Corey how she would use Rosemary. She wrote, “Chicken”. I asked her if she’d use Cinnamon tonight. She wrote, “Dessert”. I asked her what she’d use Ginger for. She wrote, “Everything”! I laughed out loud and thought there are people without Traumatic Brain Injuries that wouldn’t know the answers to these questions! Before I knew it, 3 hours passed and it was time for Corey to go to bed.

Honey spending time with you when it’s “just us” is so much fun for me. I love to laugh with you and to “hear” what you have to say. I’m so happy you are finally able to express yourself and I’m grateful for the gift to be able to understand what you’re saying. What a pleasure to let our evening unfold naturally. I treasure our quiet moments together, xoxo
