Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Corey began her day in the gym. No holiday for her! PT and OT kept her busy on the mat and the bolster. We had a good visit with her. She was dozing in and out most of the day but had some alert time when we skyped our family.

We requested string bean casserole to be served via feeding tube. I’m sure she loved her favorite thanksgiving dish.

JohnPaul and Caitlin came home for Thanksgiving and brought friends! JohnPaul’s friends came from England and celebrated their first American Thanksgiving. Our neighbor, the Sifer’s, prepared dinner for us. When the boys saw the buffet of food, they were amazed! We prepared to say grace when the boys in unison exclaimed, “God Bless America”. Our dinner was delicious and the house is alive with conversation, laughter and friendship.

My brother and his family have a Thanksgiving tradition called “Thankfuls”. Each person takes a turn saying what they are thankful for in the last year.
My Thankful’s for this year;
I am thankful for my job. I enjoy what I do, the customers I call on and the people I work with. I’m thankful for the ICU team at Christiana, the rehab team at Bryn Mawr, our friends that call, text and write to us each day. I’m thankful for the stories you all share about Corey that make us laugh and feel joyful. I’m thankful for this past summer. I watched Corey come in to her own. She made her decision to go to Johnson & Wales. She truly enjoyed her job and the girls she works with at the candy shop. I’m thankful for today when she turned her head and her eyes to the left as I walked into her room.

I’m most thankful for these carepages and all of the postings from all of you! We lean on your energy, encouragement and confidence. We can’t begin to tell you how much your words mean to us. The kids often comment asking did you read “so and so’s” note. Thank you so much for your love and support. We can never express how you all have helped us through this life changing experience. We are incredibly thankful for all of you. We are also REALLY excited for Saturday’s fundraiser. To be surrounded by friends and family this weekend has been the most wonderful gift.

This isn’t the Thanksgiving holiday we thought we’d have this year, but it has been filled with so many blessings we never expected.

You’re doing so well kiddo and getting stronger everyday. Next year, you’ll be cooking for all us just like you wanted to this year. Rest up because we’ll also be hitting the black Friday sales BIG TIME! We love you! xoxo
